View from a Rhino House: start as you mean to go on….

In Cyprus the public broadcaster mistakenly broadcast the opening remarks from last year’s New Year’s message – from the country’s ex-leader; instead of a speech by his successor, President Nicos Anastasiades.

The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) said it had realized its mistake within seconds of the broadcast going out on 31st December & had pulled the plug on the address from former president Demetris Christofias as quickly as possible.

The broadcaster is now conducting an internal inquiry into the “very serious” error, CyBC said in a statement carried by the Cyprus News Agency.

Christofias was kicked-out of office after Anastasiades won the presidential election in February last year.
