Yesterday in Norway a 10 year old boy came up with a pretty clever ruse after he drove his parents’ car into a snowy ditch: he told the police he was a dwarf who had left his driving license at home.
The lad lives near Dokka, just over100 kilometres north of Oslo & yesterday, sometime before dawn, he loaded his 18 month old sister into the car & set out for their grandparents home in Valdres, about 60 kilometres away, local police said.
He had driven just over 10 kilometres when he veered off the road; a short time later a snowplough driver found him & called the police.
“The parents woke up to discover that their children were missing & that someone had taken off with their car. They were pretty upset, as you can imagine,” said police spokesman (& well known master of the understatement) Baard Christiansen.
“The boy told the snowplough driver that he was a dwarf & that he had left his driver’s license at home.”
Police said no charges would be filed & the case was closed.
The children were not injured & the car was not damaged, police said.
This boy will be Prime Minister when (& if) he grows-up.
