In aiming a version of the Golf at the price-senstitive Asian market, VW management were forced to admit that the vehicle security systems had been downgraded in an effort to lower overall costs.
In parts of the former Soviet Union automobile security was enhanced by a series of simple devices; all of which unfortunately were worth more than the vehicles they protected.
Although the extra cash for central locking was beyond Zip’s means, he wasn’t taking any chances; which made it seem even worse when he returned & the parking meter was gone too.
