Peter had been a keen golfer since his early teens and after he lost his job on the trawlers he was thrilled to be offered a seasonal position at the local Golf Club. His enthusiasm was somewhat lessened when he discovered that he was responsible for recovering the lost balls from the water hazards. Things might have been better if the gig wasn’t for the Winter months only.
Volkswagen’s continued attempt to satisfy every part of the global market with their Golf/Rabbit model continued without pause until the setback they received when they trialed their “Light Trailer” variant. The turning circle made it unsuitable for all but the widest paved areas and, following a number of highway fatalities amongst the focus group responsible for “real world testing,” there were some serious questions raised about its lack of rear brakes and general road worthiness.
Dear Agony Aunts
We have been invited to a Halloween party at my husband’s parents’ house & frankly it is pretty inconvenient as I was actually planning to leave him the day before & start a new life with my golf coach in Portugal. I know that Bill is really looking forward to the party & I’d like to leave him on a bit of high note but the airline tickets and the hotel are all booked.
Any suggestions?

We think you need to think about this very carefully. Do you really want to see your husband reduced to a wreck of a man, a hollow shell of self-doubt & misery? If you do (& what wife wouldn’t?) then change the bookings, go to the party & tell him your shipping-out just as the fun begins.
However much the re-booking fees are, they are going to be worth every penny & you’ll be leaving Bill with a very special Hallowe’en memory he will never forget.
